Don't get me wrong: Dory is very much Dory -and it was nice to see her and Dorina at last trying to work together, even if so far it is as much miss at it is hit. Either way I very much enjoyed this, and am looking forward to reading Pritkin's story when it comes out. Our awesome author overlord Karen Chance announced that this diamond is going to be longish and up and running by the end of August.

Now, everyone knows that i'm an utter sucker for anything even remotely involving Dory. Because Dory is the shit. As in, Especially since Karen Chance is one of my top 3 favorite authors and i have indeed promised her on twitter my firstborn for writing these masterpieces. Which trust me, it's quite a feat when you have a bookworm such as myself, with over books devoured because apparently i have an addiction and it does not involve smoking.

Now, knowing all this, imagine how i'm feeling when i cannot put my grabby paws on this diamond because no online store has it. Again, because this gem is in progress of being born. I may need professional help. And i don't have the book yet. View all 4 comments. Sep 18, Liz Quirky Cat rated it it was amazing Shelves: Okay, that last bit should be fairly obvious, considering the main character is Dorina herself.

Still, a novella set in that world, what more could a girl ask for? Just wait until the twist, aka surprise character cameo is revealed. The girl is pretty talented when it comes to getting herself in over her head, but on the bright side her sassy attitude seems to help her get through it all.

That cameo is an obvious one; the tiger tattoo was a nice touch as well. The plot itself was interesting, and liberally coated with moments of humor. In short; it was the perfect companion to the Dorina Basarab series. I was both excited and hesitant when I heard about this novella.

Not because I was worried or anything…I just have found myself missing their world lately. I knew I was going to read the novella one way or the other though. What truly sold me on it though, was the name that Karen Chance let slip in her blog post about it. Pritkin and Dori, meeting? Not only does that sound like chaos incarnate, I am a huge fan of having characters from different stories, but the same world, interact.

I was surprised by the intensity of the plot itself.

If anything it feels like every novel and novella in this world has been upping the ante for years. As per usual, there were a lot of fun magical touches. I love that Karen Chance so wonderfully represents magic in its most chaotic form. And honestly, it really does a great job of balancing out the heavier moments in the plot.

Sep 09, Susanna rated it liked it. An exciting romp from start to finish. A murder investigation Dory conducts turns into an all-out battle with great stakes for vampires. Even though this is marketed as a novella, it's fairly long and it contains important revelations for Dory and the continuing story-line, so I recommend reading it. Pritkin makes an appearance, but I would've wished that the importance of his character had been better marked.

See a Problem?

Now he was just a character among the others. And since this is a novella, the end is An exciting romp from start to finish. And since this is a novella, the end is very abrupt, which is perhaps the greatest reason I gave it only three stars. Perfect Sometimes, Dorina novels have too breathless a pace, for me. I love them, sure, but I have to periodically put them down so I don't explode with the pressure. This one is break-neck, don't get me wrong, but Ms Chance has wisely included moments in which Dorina plans and has, well, -moments- with the people around her.

Which make a novel or novella, in this case so much more satisfying.

1 Hitting Pure Pkers with Dragon Claws

A fabulous thrill ride of action, magic and fun! I think this might be my favorite Dory book so far, and that is saying a lot. So much great action. So many unexpected plot twists! Fa orite characters old and new. So much clever, fun magic!

Claw of the Dragon by Bruce Algozin

Dragons and tigers and pandas and roucans and monkeys and giant ocrupus. This book is a fabulous rollar coaster ride full of with and wonder. Who could ask for anything more? So much fun and chaos. I like that the relationships are getting sorted with Louis-Cesare, Ray, her father. I adore Cassie, but enjoy Dory so much more. Sep 04, Gloria rated it it was amazing Shelves: This longish novella is that last of the Dori stories currently out, and I devoured it as soon as it arrived.

The plot was complicated, and the action non-stop. Dori's complex relationship with her alter ego Dorina continues to grow in this this novella, as does her relationship with Ray, her second. I really strongly recommend this novella - indeed, the whole series. Dory my favorite of all of Karen Chance's characters.

A loner , an underdog , a women who stands in the breach between good and evil. This was a terrific novella. I can't wait for Pritkin's novella. I love both series! I had been reading her Cassie series and just started this one and can not wait for the next book. If you like Patricia Briggs then you will love Karen Chance books! Another action packed adventure in the world of Dory and Cassie I love these books. The characters make me laugh - especially Dory's relationship with her 2nd, Ray.

The action is interspersed with enough vampire and mage political intrigue to keep you guessing. Sep 18, Milady rated it really liked it Shelves: Fun to read, lots of action as usual, but I didn't felt that Dorina was running around without sense like in other books.

Also, she's finally met Pritkin There's maybe a book with Pritkin point of view of the encounter. Outstanding This should not be read unless you have read Dorina's other books first. Having said that, wow. So many twists and turns.

Claw of the Dragon

Another great read Fast past and full of humor. Dory is a wonderful character that just keeps growing. I love every entry in this series! Sep 14, Fire Raven rated it it was amazing. Almost the length of a novel. I love the author. Awesome Love this novella.
